Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. The app says it has detected screen recording, screen sharing, or unauthorised activity. What should I do?

This message usually appears when the application detects another app or device function that may be able to record, mirror, or share your screen. This is a built-in security feature designed to protect the lecture recordings and intellectual property of Glasgow Orthodontic Academy. To resolve this issue, please try the following:

1.Close all other applications completely.

2.Make sure you close any apps that may record, mirror, or share your screen, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Screen-recording tools, Remote access apps and Screen-sharing software

3.Do not take screenshots while using the application, as this may also trigger the same security warning.

4.Restart your device.

5.Open only the IDA application and try again.

6.If possible, check whether any background screen-recording or screen-mirroring function is active on your device and switch it off.

Please note that the application has been tested and there is no general issue from our side. In most cases, this warning disappears once all conflicting applications or background functions are fully closed.

Q2. The app won't open on my Mac. What should I do?

If you are using a Mac and see the message:

“Apple could not verify this app is free of malware”

This is caused by macOS Gatekeeper, which is a built-in Apple security feature that may block applications from unidentified developers. The IDA application is trusted. Please follow one of the options below to open it safely.

Option 1: Open the app using the context menu

1. Open Finder.

2. Locate the IDA app, usually in your Applications or Downloads folder.

3. Right-click, or Control-click, on the app icon.

4. Select Open.

5. A warning message will appear.

6. Click Open again to confirm.

This should allow the app to open without showing the same warning again.

Option 2: Allow the app through Privacy & Security settings

1. Open System Settings on your Mac.

2. Go to Privacy & Security.

3. Scroll down until you see a message stating that the app was blocked because it is not from an identified developer.

4. Click Open Anyway.

5. Enter your Mac administrator password if prompted.

The app should then run normally.

If the issue continues after trying both options, please contact technical support via WhatsApp message.

Q3. I have been enrolled, but I cannot see the course. What should I do?

After we enrol, please open the IDA application and go to "My Courses". Then swipe down to refresh the page. Your course should then appear, and you should be able to start watching the recordings. If the course still does not appear after refreshing, please contact technical support via WhatsApp message and include the email address you used to register on the app.
